We returned to Lake Thun over the weekend where we had this year’s Swiss Championship to sail a national optimist regatta. We did not have any wind on Saturday but Sunday morning was fine so we could sail two races in actually pretty good wind. I had a good first race with a good start that I could defend quite well, coming in 15th of 49. The second race went less well; I had a poor start but managed to overtake around 20 boats becoming 20th. I ended up in 31th place overall, my second best ranking ever at a national regatta. I was lucky enough to again be called to the podium, this time as third opti “B” (my age group).
My teammate Jonas continued this season’s excellence performance as 9th overall. Nik came in 14th and my brother Niklas became 40th.
Coming up next is a regional regatta which I will use to get additional practice.
My name is Simon Kaiser and I love my family. And sailing.
